We are also proud to install bathrooms, toilets and modern heating systems and boilers to the residents of Sevenoaks. Back in the fifteenth century, Thomas Bourchier, the Archbishop of Canterbury, bought the Knole estate and erected the infamous and majestic Knole House. Nowadays Knole Park is a 1,000-acre park well known for its deer and several million trees.

In 1577 Queen Elizabeth I made a present of Knole House to the Sackville family; although the Sackville family still live in the property, the estate is now owned and maintained by the National Trust and is a hue tourist attraction in the area. In January 1967, The Beatles visited the estate and made promotional films for "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" in the beautiful parkland. In these grounds originally stood seven oak trees and it was these which gave the town its name; however they have been replaced many times over the years. In 1902 seven more oaks were planted at The Vine cricket ground but six of these were blown down in the Great Storm of 1987. The Vine Cricket Ground, one of the oldest grounds in the country, is located in the middle of the town. The land is thought to have once been used as a vineyard for the Archbishops of Canterbury. Interestingly, the rent for the land consisted of 2 peppercorns per year to the town council who were then required to pay Lord Sackville one cricket ball on 21 July each year! Another fascinating tidbit is that it was at The Vine that cricket was first played with three stumps as opposed to two.
